CHILDE GIG GUIDE

Hello again. Another delicious weekend of head banging, toe-tapping and beer swigging ahead. Here's our pick for the best shows to get around.

Goons of Doom w/ Drunk Mums, Dick Lord

The mad men from the Goons of Doom have kicked off their tour last week by tearing down at The Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle. This week they hit the streets of Sydney, to remind them how to party. No amount of Liberal Party pressure will stop these boys from letting loose in the Oxford Street basement. Just to really amp it up, they've brought along Melbourne pub rock royalty Drunk Mums and new chicks on the scene, Dick Lord. Make sure you catch one of the two gigs they're ripping through this weekend.

Thurs, April 4th - Oxford Art Factory, Syd

Fri, April 5th - Narrabeen RSL, Syd

The Laurels w/ 100, Concrete Lawn

This show is worth going to just for the supports alone! Then you throw the post-psychedelic outfit The Laurels on top, and you've got yourself a bloody ripper night. 100 have been making all kinds of waves through Sydney, on the back of their tour with Nick Nuisance & The Delinquents and a new single. They are well on the up and their shows have been carrying this momentum. Concrete Lawn are another impressive upcoming act, full of angst and screaming at the suburban streets of Sydney, I wouldn't be missing em. After a bit of a new music drought, The Laurels are back with a huge new album and I'm sure they're psyched to showcase it. Oh and it's at the Marrickville Bowlo. Sounds like a pretty good night.

Fri, April 5th - Marrickville Bowlo, Syd

Scab Baby, Rat Coffin, Space Boys, 2 Mums + Heaps More

This is going to be a huge show of up and coming garage bands from all around the joint and it's taking place in the quiet NSW south coast town of Huskisson. This will be one to catch if you're on the South Coast, and probably worth driving to from Sydney really. CHILDE faves 2 Mums are a super raucous and high energy band from Ulladulla, and they seem to be getting better and better. I've got a feeling this gig will be a super DIY, underground, grass roots, those-who-know kinda deal that people will talk about for ages. You should be one of those people.

Sun, April 7th - Huskisson Community Hall, Jervis Bay.

Tumbleweed w/ Hobo Magic, Frozen Planet 1969

Australian rock legends Tumbleweed are touring at the moment. This weekend they're hitting the Great Northern Hotel. These guys are actually 90's rock royalty, and their will no doubt be some serious metal neck the morning after the gig. Especially considering Brisbane stoner rock lads Hobo Magic are main support. Prepare your neck brace and get around it!

Friday, April 5th - The Northern, Byron Bay

Floodlights w/ Tony Dork, Dragoons, VIM

This will be a big night for the Floodlights team, after many a support gig, chipping away at the highly saturated Melbourne scene, the Floodlights will be headlining their single launch at the iconic Workers Club. The single is an instant classic, full of nostalgia and escapism, if you haven't heard it, have a geez below. Also jumping on the bill are good friends, and hyper-energetic punk outfit Tony Dork. It'll be a night worth attending.

Friday, April 5th - The Workers Club, Melbourne

Take care of each other folks and we'll see you in the mosh.
