CHILDE is an Australian brand, creating premium hand made Italian eyewear inspired by artists, musicians and activists.

The CHILDE brand, products and community is built on punk sensibility fuelled by design expression of raw energy, freedom of speech, powerful brand values and environmentally sensitive manufacturing principals.

CHILDE is embodied by the ancient symbol of the Ouroboros - the serpent eating its own tail defining the universal cycle of life created from death.

The CHILDE logo symbolises the infinite evolution of our brand's expression of raw energy.

This natural cycle reflects our focus on using bio-degradable and sustainable materials wherever we can.

Childe was founded by Jon Laurenson after spending time in Portugal and being inspired by friend and renowned artist Mario Belem.

After visiting friends and boutique optical manufacturers in Italy he returned to Australia to form a team and bring Childe to life in 2018.

Our first eco-eyewear sunglass products being available in the Australian market in April 2019. We have now developed our eyewear to be manufactured in 2 distinct eco frame collections.

Our Australian designed, Italian made eyewear products are premium fit and quality made from eco sensitive Plant Based and Bio-Acetate frame materials.

Our Hand Made Bio-Acetate eyewear is artisan eco-eyewear designed to love and protect your eyes for your lifetime.

Jon's experience in fashion eyewear spans 25 years as an original founder of Electric Visual and previously managing Arnette Optics in Australia during the late 90's.

After 10 years pursuing other creative interests Jon felt it was time to make an exciting community driven lifestyle brand with eco-sensibilities.

His passion for Australian fashion, Rock & Roll and environment consideration draws inspiration to the design aesthetic of the brand.

Jon has worked with our Italian design and quality control team across 3 brands over 25 years.

Our mission is to deliver the world best eco-sensitive fashion eyewear.

I wouldn't even regard myself a photographer. I’m more a conduit for ideas to be realised. I rarely look through the camera anymore, it drives my clients crazy and as anyone who knows me knows, I rarely shoot anything in focus. I’m looking for the feeling in an image, the gravity of the moment we’re creating.
