CHILDE | Gig Guide (July 31st)

We love music here at Childe which is easy when we live in such a musically blessed country! Drenched in riffs, screams, melodies and bass drums, there is good music happening somewhere near you this weekend. So get out there!

Here's our picks...

Bitch Diesel + 2 Stroke w/ Skreech + CNT EVN

Bitch Diesel and 2 Stroke are two of the most exciting bands coming out of Melbourne at the moment. Bitch Diesel have just wrapped up an enormous national tour with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, while 2 Stroke have been slowly and mysteriously chipping away at their incredibly unique and raw sound. This weekend is the first stop on their double single release tour and it's going to be a belter. Jumping on the show are Sunshine Coast thrashers Skreech who we absolutely adore! And CNT EVN, who we haven't yet heard have an excellent name, and I'm sure the music to back it up.

Sunday, August 4 @ The Bearded Lady, Brisbane

The Grogans

These lads have been on an absolute bonzer of a tour, putting in the hard yards and blessing music lovers in all kinds of places around the nation. They're wrapping it up this weekend with a couple of home shows. We love a band that is willing to put their time and effort into getting on the road and playing to all different kinds of people in all different kinds of places. The bonus for these guys is that their music is excellent, vibey enough that it doesn't put you to sleep but welcoming enough that you can listen to it with your mum, your mates or all on your own. So get down to a show this weekend and clap these lads home.

Thursday, August 1 @ The Genny, Mt Hotham

Friday, August 2 @ Yah Yahs, Melbourne (2am slot)

Saturday, August 3 @ Oh Jean Records, Melbourne (All ages)

100 w/ Eternal Dust

Sydney powerhouse and everybody's favourite numerically-named band - 100 are taking over the front room at the iconic Tote for a month. These guys have recently killed it on the national tour with Pist Idiots, no doubt picking up a new legion of fans along the way. Their no rubbish, full throttle brand of post-punk is absolutely delectable and a match made in heaven for the tight-packed, beer stained front bar in the Tote. So get on down there for round one on Thursday, so maybe swap your Friday morning shift cos I'm sure they'll be coming out swinging!

Thursday, August 1 @ The Tote, Melbourne

Wharves w/ Peach Furs

Wharves are an awesome Lennox bred band that have been making serious waves around the nation, quickly building an adoring fan base. With their dreamy 80's soaked Indie rock, catchy hooks and foot stomping drum beats, the lads have earned some well-deserved Triple J play in the last year and a bit. They have a tight live sound and a high energy presence. You should catch it this weekend in Byron Bay!

Friday, August 2nd @ Beach Hotel, Byron Bay

Peter Bibby

The most loveable larrikin in Australian music is playing an infamous local show tonight. We're assuming everyone in the West has seen Bibby, and if you haven't you must have actually been trying avoid it with all the might in your body, because he plays there a lot. And he gets away with it! The reason for this is because he is so damn good! Every show I've seen (quite a few now) has been completely different, completely unpredictable and completely brilliant! So if you're in the west tonight and don't mind being hungover at work... get out and support ya boy!

Wednesday, July 31st @ Mojo's, Fremantle
