Hello and happy Thursday. Despite the Liberals continuing to have NSW in a chokehold - our precious music continues to push on, flying a middle finger in the face of an out-dated, ignorant, naive and backwards government. So give a fuck you to the Liberals and head to a gig this weekend. Here's some good ones.
Goons of Doom w/ Dicklord & Surf Trash
It all kicks of this week. Australia's favourite party band Goons of Doom starts their Black Skull Bong tour in Newcastle on Friday night and it will be a massive one. Bringing along the heavy hitting Dicklord who are well worth a watch if you enjoy being yelled at by bad ass chicks with Aussie accents. Local young Newy lads Surf Trash will be there too, on home turf. These guys have been copping some props by the queen of Triple J herself, Ms. Ruby Fields, so I reckon they're going to be worth a watch. If you haven't seen, CHILDE is offering you the chance to win flights, accomodation and hangouts to the Byron Bay and Gold Coast shows on the Black Skulll Bong tour for you and a mate, as well as a bunch of sunnies. Fri, 29th of March - Cambridge Hotel, Newcastle
A.Swayze & The Ghosts, VOIID, Crocodylus
Keep it moving baby. This week, the juggernaut of a tour that is "All In", heads north hitting Byron Bay, Gold Coast and Brisbane. Rumour has it A.Swayze & The Ghosts will even be dropping in at CHILDE HQ for a little warm up gig. Stay tuned.
Fri 29th March - The Northern, Byron Bay
Sat 30th March - Miami Shark Bar, Gold Coast
Sun 31st March - Crow Bar, Brisbane
Southern River Band
Do these boys ever rest? Apparently not... These West Australian rock maniacs have more undoubtedly sweaty and riff-fuelled gigs this weekend and are covering a fair bit of ground. Their last show at Cherry Bar sold out and this is the venues last ever Friday night show at the iconic location, so I'd make sure you get in there quick!
Fri 29th March - Cherry Bar, Melbourne
Sat 30th March - "A Day On The Cans" Festival (w/ Press Club, Drapht, Delta Riggs and more), Adelaide
Oogars w/ Nice Biscuit & Gooby Jim and The Goobs
More gigs from the lovely The Oogars, supporting Nice Biscuit again, this time in Brisbane. Haven't seen Gooby Jim and The Goobs, but with a name like, they're bound to be good. Make sure you catch the The Oogars babes for some hip swinging and hair flicking.
Fri 29th March - The Foundry, Brisbane
Beach Sounds Festival
This is going to be a big one. Hosted by Lennox Groove at Lennox Community Hall, this free event is flexing a serious line up. Candy, Leroy Francis, Wave Vom, Liquid Face, Cakes, Lexicon, No Parade and Scab Baby, just to name a few. If you're within driving distance this will be one you won't want to miss. In it's third year running, Beach Sounds has really kicked it up a gear in showcasing some of the best up and coming acts within their respective genres. And at Lennox beach? How picturesque...
Sat, 30th March - Lennox Head Community Hall.
