YOUNG HENRYS & CHILDE THROW‘STAY ALL DAY SUMMER PARTY’ TO CELEBRATE WAYWARDS RE-OPENING
Newtown indie beer supremos Young Henrys have teamed up with best mates Childe Eyewear to throw a mini festival celebrating the re-opening of Waywards and the impending sweaty season. Dubbed the Stay All Day Summer Party, the new and improved Waywards will host some of the best emerging talent from the Inner West and beyond, followed by local DJs to keep the party going into the AM. Entry is FREE all day, all night.
Kicking off at 4pm, the stacked line-up, headed by Brisbane’s VOIID and local legends Georgia June, will sweep through the recently refurbed hotel with performances from The Oogars, Nick Nuisance & The Delinquents, The Lazy Eyes, Good Pash, Tupperware Party and Misty Lanes, followed by DJ sets from Polish Cluband Psyched As.
Headliners, all-girl, no-bullshit punk quartet VOIID haven’t seen a wink this past year. Taking the scene by storm since releasing their debut ‘Pussy Orientated’ EP back in 2016 and the release of their sophomore EP, “DROOL,” they will be out in force come party time. Sharing headlining duties are the infectious force of energy, Georgia June, a quintet that’s seen plenty of work in 2019 garnering festival billings at Falls Festival, Bad Friday and Yours & Owls.
Byron Bay’s The Oogars have been winning over hearts with their highly energetic and captivating live performances. Nick Nuisance & the Delinquents will bring the riot garage rock to the day with help from Good Pash, who will no doubt keep the mosh pit fueled. Meanwhile Misty Lanes & Cronulla’s Tupperware Party and The Lazy Eyes will ensure a dreamy cocktail of psych rock, groovy 70s pop is served in abundance.
Young Henrys Co-Founder, Oscar McMahon said the day is shaped not only as a massive party with some great bands, but as a special way to celebrate the reopening of a Newtown late-night favourite:
“There are a few things to celebrate at the moment... the incredible music coming out of the grass roots scene, the fact that Waywards just reopened with a slick new sound and stage and the fact that summer is just around the corner! We called our friends at Waywards and Childe Eyewear and said “we gots to throw a party!!” So, throw party we did”.
On the re-opening of Waywards, General Manager, Amanda Veritti says:
“Waywards reopening has been the highlight of the year to me. I’ve seen some of my fav artists play shows there (shout out to Julia Jacklin!) and I’ve always been really passionate about live music. To have the ability to make a bigger stage, the PA louder, and the dance floor busier is incredible and I’m super blessed to be able to be part of the new phase of live music in Newtown”.
Of course, with any Young Henrys bash, there’ll be plenty of drink specials to keep you hydrated. Plus, the good folk at Childe Eyewear will be handing out free sunglasses throughout the day/night. Created in Australia, hand-made in Italy with a rock ‘n’ roll influence, the Childe brand is built on punk sensibility fueled by design expressions of raw energy, freedom of speech and environmentally sensitive principles. The perfect alignment with the rambunctious Young Henrys crew!
Kick off at 4pm, free entry.
