Last Sunday the inaugural Bangers on the Green went off with a bang at the Shaws Bay Hotel, East Ballina
An absolutely glorious winters day of perfect north coast sunshine greeted music lovers to one of the very best Aussie lineups to be gathered in one afternoon for many a moon
The ladies of Sweetie band opened the proceedings with en energetic set of punk rock n roll as punters enjoyed a classic pub feed and cold beverage overlooking the Ballina river.
The line up went from strength to strength with beautifully moody performances from Sjiobhan Cochin, Luke Morris and Workhorse.
Just on dusk Gimmy and the Spring Rollers took it up a notch with a dazzling show that got the crowd up and about.
The Peep Tempel former front man Blake Scott delivered the rousing performance of the day that had the crowd totally rock n roll mesmerised while the sun finally set at the Shaws bay Hotel
The "Tell Your Friends You Love Them" theme of the day by Childe Eyewear had the crowd finding new best friends with matching wrist bands to win sunglasses that stated LOVE YOU on the temples to encourage more open love and support between mates. People were literally yelling their numbers out through there crowd to find their new best mates and when they did it was Love all round
As the sun went down and the temperature dropped the Shawsy had lit up a huge tree next to the water with fairy lights which set the tone for Nice Biscuit to absolutely send it ….which they did.
The crowd was jumping when they moved to the the big stage for Floodlights who draw the biggest crowd pf the day. Absolutely brilliant Floodlights is definitely the future of Australian rock n roll anthems
Closing out the night was The Rions with lots and lots of dancing to their new tracks from Scary Movies and absolutely classic covers of Abba and Kings of Leon.
Hometown Artists and Bangers Event organiser Mark Haughton said "The vibe was just incredible and people were so stoked fro see this dynamic and diverse line up all come together on the one afternoon
The tell your friends you love them theme added a really great and authentic comraderie to the day too. Overall we definitely proved the Bangers concept and highlighted what a brilliant venue the Shaws Bay Hotel is for future live music by the sea in East Ballina.”
Stay tuned for Hometown Artists Management to deliver more epic Bangers on the Green around the north coast region over the coming months.
Thanks to all who turned up and revelled in the magic of the Bangers.”
