It's that almost weekend time of the week again when replying to e-mails become less and less important and figuring out what the heck you're going to do this weekend jumps to the forefront of your tired little work brain. Luckily we've got some great ideas for you.
The Southern River Band
West Australian maniacs, and dear friends of ours, The Southern River Band are kicking off a sizeable Australian National tour as of Valentines Day. I recommend taking your new love interest to a gig, however, keep her/him under your arm, and out of the backstage zone. Gags aside, these guys have been lighting fires with their uniquely Australian guitar rock and you’d be a damn fool to miss them while they’re over on the East Coast, they REALLY know how to put on a show.
Thursday 14th Feb @ Workers Club, Geelong
Friday 15th Feb @ Northcote Social Club, Melbourne
Saturday 16th Feb @ The Northern, Byron Bay
Dumb Punts
Melbourne strongholds and pub rock darlings Dumb Punts are hitting Sydney and the ‘Gong this weekend. These guys have been playing and spreading their head-banging seed all over Australia, and recently also Europe where they tagged along for the Skegss tour. Warning: Sing-alongs unavoidable. UP THE PUNTS.
Catch them this weekend
Friday 15th Feb @ Vic On The Park, Sydney w/ Totty
Saturday 16th Feb @ FILTH FEST, Wombarra Bowling Club, Wollongong with COFFIN, Girl Germs, Scab Baby and more
Gamjee
These Melbourne fuzz demons have been given the duty of keeping people in the front bar at the Tote entertained for four weeks in a row. In the second week of their Front Bar Residency, we reckon they should be able to pull this off pretty easy. With tasty garage fuzz and guitar pedal wizardry, these guys have a super likeable sound. For fans of Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall (and who doesn’t like them?) Jumping along for the ride this week are Diana Radar, and red hot up and comers Floodlights. Sounds like the perfect setting for a Saturday arvo beer in Melbourne!
Catch them this weekend - Saturday 16th Feb @ The Tote Front Bar, Melbourne with Diana Radar and Floodlights
